A Memorable First Rosh Hashanah
The Taiwan Jewish Community celebrated New Year at the American Club with the serene backdrop of the Keelung river. Each moment was a testament to the richness of Jewish tradition and the bonds that unite the community.
First Night at the American Club:
The festivities kicked off on the first night with a dinner at the American Club. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. Meaningful religious services set the tone for the evening, creating a sense of unity and spiritual connection. The community gathered to usher in the Jewish New Year with prayers, reflections, and a collective sense of gratitude.
The highlight of the evening was the buffet dinner, a feast that catered to both the soul and the senses. Over 200 attendees reveled in the joyous occasion, sharing stories, laughter, and the warmth of newfound friendships. The American Club became a melting pot of Jews from different cultural backgrounds celebrate together the Jewish traditions that bind them.
Day 1 at the Synagogue:
The following day unfolded with services at the synagogue, a sacred space that radiated a sense of solemnity and reverence. Multiple members took turns reading from the Torah, symbolizing a collective commitment to the teachings and values that guide the Jewish community. One particularly unforgettable moment was the surprise adult bar mitzvah, a testament to the community's ability to embrace tradition while embracing the diversity of its members.

Day 2 on the Banks of Dajia River:
On the second day, the community gathered by a serene river in Taipei for an open-air service, surrounded by nature's beauty. The tranquil setting provided a stark contrast to the lively festivities of the previous day, offering a space for introspection and renewal.
The Tashlich service, a symbolic casting away of sins into the flowing water, added a profound spiritual dimension to the celebration. Against the backdrop of the river's gentle flow, participants engaged in a ritual that marked a fresh start for the coming year.
